F-F-F-FEDERAL ELECTION 2011 Budget Shot Down by the Goof Troop
Mar 22, 2011 - 6:26 PM - by J
They're at it again, and so are we Canadians. The 2011 federal budget, as presented by Hon. Jim Flaherty, was nixed by opposing party's members. The resulting cavernous cauldron of hellish election-time magma will have Canadian citizens feeling the pain for months.

Mere moments after Flaherty's proposal went on the table, the Holy Trinity of parliament, which comprises the Bloc Quebecois, the NDP, and the feigning Liberal party, began their feast on the will of the Canadians.

I leave with you a quote. You only get one guess on who said it:
Quote:
(on the United States) "an empire lite, a global hegemony whose grace notes are free markets, human rights and democracy, enforced by the most awesome military power the world has ever known."
Give up? It was Michael Ignatieff, the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada.

The balance of this missive is quoted directly from our favorite source, Wikipedia, and is a damning description of Ignatieff's nebulous and fluid political orientation. This man, this "leader", is a shame to our Country:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael...s tan_mission
Quote:
Ignatieff has written extensively on international development, peacekeeping and the international responsibilities of Western nations. Critical of the limited-risk approach practiced by NATO in conflicts like the Kosovo War and the Rwandan Genocide, he says that there should be more active involvement and larger scale deployment of land forces by Western nations in future conflicts in the developing world. Ignatieff attempts to distinguish his approach from Neo-conservativism because the motives of the foreign engagement he advocates are essentially altruistic rather than selfserving.[18]

In this vein, Ignatieff was originally a prominent supporter of the 2003 Invasion of Iraq.[19] Ignatieff said that the United States established "an empire lite, a global hegemony whose grace notes are free markets, human rights and democracy, enforced by the most awesome military power the world has ever known." The burden of that empire, he says, obliged the United States to expend itself unseating Iraqi president Saddam Hussein in the interests of international security and human rights. Ignatieff initially accepted the position of the George W. Bush administration: that containment through sanctions and threats would not prevent Hussein from selling weapons of mass destruction to international terrorists. Ignatieff believed that those weapons were still being developed in Iraq.[20] Moreover, according to Ignatieff, "what Saddam Hussein had done to the Kurds and the Shia" in Iraq was sufficient justification for the invasion.[21][22]

In the years following the invasion, Ignatieff reiterated his support for the war, if not the method in which it was conducted. "I supported an administration whose intentions I didn't trust," he averred, "believing that the consequences would repay the gamble. Now I realize that intentions do shape consequences."[19] He eventually recanted his support for the war entirely. In a 2007 New York Times Magazine article, he wrote: "The unfolding catastrophe in Iraq has condemned the political judgment of a president, but it has also condemned the judgment of many others, myself included, who as commentators supported the invasion." Ignatieff partly interpreted what he now saw as his particular errors of judgment, by presenting them as typical of academics and intellectuals in general, whom he characterised as "generalizing and interpreting particular facts as instances of some big idea". In politics, by contrast, "Specifics matter more than generalities".[23]

On June 3, 2008, and on March 30, 2009, Michael Ignatieff voted in support of non-binding motions in the House of Commons calling on the government to "allow conscientious objectors...to a war not sanctioned by the United Nations.....[(including Iraq war resisters)]...to...remain in Canada..."[24][25][26][27][28] However on September 29, 2010, when those motions were proposed as a binding private member's bill from Liberal MP Gerard Kennedy, CTV News reported that Ignatieff "walked out during the vote."[29] The bill then failed to pass this second reading vote by seven votes.

Ignatieff has also spoken on the issue of Canadian participation in the North American Missile Defence Shield. In "Virtual War," Ignatieff refers to the likelihood of America developing a MDS to protect the United States. Nowhere did Ignatieff voice support for Canadian participation in such a scheme.[30] Further, in October 2006, Ignatieff indicated that he personally would not support ballistic missile defence nor the weaponization of space.[31]

In 2005 Ignatieff delivered the Amnesty 2005 Lecture at Trinity College in Dublin where-in he provided evidence to support his theory that; "We wouldn't have international human rights without the leadership of the United States".[32]

Brett raced with Jordan Suzuki last year, and is returning to Canadian racing with BMW Motorrad. Having won 4 of 7 races the last time he was in Canada, and setting lap records that have stood since 2009, he'll be in the hunt for the National Championship and is ready to pass his knowledge on to you.

It's going to be an exciting season, so hold onto your helmets and enjoy the ride!
Hey Gang!

Welcome to 2011 and BGPR's 10 Year Anniversary!
For those not well acquainted with BGPR, Brad Gavey started racing in 1996, and was recruited by Michel Mercier to instruct for the FAST Riding School. Brad enjoyed helping other riders to achieve their personal riding goals under the FAST banner. His experience with FAST, and encouragement from Michel lead to the creation of BGPR.

Our instructors consist of a broad base of volunteers within the motorcycle community. We draw on a pool of racers, riding instructors and technicians to bring you a well rounded experience. Over the years we have instructed thousands of riders with a broad range of backgrounds. From street riders hoping to hone their riding skills, to track day enthusiasts and race podium hopefuls, we have done our best to give our students the knowledge and skill they need to succeed.
We would like to thank all of our volunteers, sponsors and above all, our students for their dedication and support over the years. Without each and every one of you, BGPR wouldn't have been the success that it is.
We look forward to continuing to serve you in 2011 with a host of new sponsors, and programs that we hope to make this season the best one yet. So stay tuned!
